Discovering Liscia Ruja, a wild beach that every year

attracts visitors from all over the world

Immersed in the splendid Gallura, Liscia Ruja stands out for its 500 meters of golden sand, which make it not only the largest beach on the renowned Costa Smeralda, but also one of the most evocative jewels in the whole of Sardinia. This oasis is located in the southern stretch of the gulf and its peculiarity is not limited to its vastness, but lies above all in the extraordinary surrounding nature.

The beach is surrounded by lush Mediterranean scrub, full of rockroses, strawberry trees and junipers, adding further charm to the landscape. Liscia Ruja impeccably combines the authenticity of uncontaminated nature with the modern services of beach establishments . Here it is possible to rent umbrellas, deckchairs and a wide range of equipment for water activities such as kayaks, canoes and dinghies, guaranteeing a perfect balance between natural beauty and contemporary comforts.

CURIOSITIES ABOUT LISCIA RUJA

A fascinating curiosity regarding Liscia Ruja, nicknamed Long Beach , is linked to its name, which translated means " red stripe ". This name derives from the particular pink color that the sand takes on near the shoreline, a unique characteristic in the area. This unusual chromatic appearance is the result of the composition of the sand, made up of granite fragments reduced to dust over millennia due to the erosion of the surrounding rocks.

HOW TO GET TO LISCIA RUJA

To reach the splendid beach of Liscia Ruja, there are several access routes from both Porto Cervo and Olbia .

From Porto Cervo, proceed south along provincial road 94. After the crossroads for Cala di Volpe, turn right and continue along the dirt road until you reach the beach.

From Olbia, however, take the state road 125 northwards, then take the provincial road 37 for the Costa Smeralda. After Porto Badisco, turn right to take the provincial road 94 and, subsequently, at the crossroads with Cala di Volpe, turn right again following the signs for Liscia Ruja.

It is also possible to reach the beach by sea using small private or rented boats, taking advantage of the launch corridor on the beach. In the absence of the corridor, it is necessary to anchor the boat at a certain distance from the coast.

WHAT TO SEE AND WHAT TO DO IN LISCIA RUJA

As previously mentioned, Liscia Ruja stands out as an authentic natural paradise within the renowned Costa Smeralda, where relaxing occurs in a natural and spontaneous way, without the need for special instructions. However, in addition to pure relaxation on its characteristic fine sand, this area is enriched by fascinating surroundings and truly evocative places of interest.

Let's start from the fact that Liscia Ruja is located in the splendid city of Arzachena , an ancient center with a fascinating history that reveals the secrets of a past permeated by Punic and Roman peoples, as well as having been a vivid stage during the Judicial period. Its history tells of a dark era: during Spanish domination, the city suffered a dramatic decline, while terrible epidemics decimated the population, leaving a legacy of desolation. After the Second World War, however, Arzachena experienced a rebirth, embracing a new identity thanks to the growing popularity of the Costa Smeralda. Since the 1960s, the city has experienced strong population and economic growth, emerging as a leading tourist destination. And it is precisely for this reason that it is not only nature that makes Arzachena fascinating, but also the rich history it has to offer.

One of the main points of interest is the Mushroom , also known as the Incappiddatu Mountains , an impressive rock formation carved by natural erosion over the centuries. Located in the historic center of Arzachena, the Mushroom can be admired by following the route of La Via delle Pietre, an itinerary that winds through evocative panoramas and ancient finds.

A road not to be missed is the panoramic Micalosu road , which winds from Arzachena towards the picturesque villages of Cannigione and La Conia. Along this route, you can admire spectacular views of Cannigione and the La Maddalena archipelago, with its rocks sculpted by the wind and the colorful carpets of brooms that embellish the landscape.

The mysterious Tomb of the Giants of Coddu Ecchju , one of the most relevant testimonies of Sardinian prehistory, arouses fascination and curiosity. This collective tomb, named for the legends surrounding the supposed existence of giants in antiquity, features an imposing structure and a small central door, a source of enigmas and mysteries that stimulate the minds of explorers.

And finally, the famous Piazzetta of Porto Cervo , which represents the fulcrum of the luxurious Costa Smeralda. Commissioned by Prince Karim Aga Khan in the 1960s, this square has become an icon of the international jet set, with its high-fashion boutiques, trendy clubs and lively nightlife attracting visitors from all over the world.

Ultimately, Liscia Ruja beach not only represents an enchanting oasis of tranquility and natural beauty but also offers a varied range of attractions to explore. This diversity makes it suitable for various types of visitors: solitary travelers looking for serenity and contemplation, couples eager for romance and families with children who can take advantage of the many services and activities available.

Along the coast, in fact, there are both bathing establishments equipped to satisfy every need of those who want to relax in all its facets, and a free beach that welcomes those who are more adventurous or prefer to enjoy this wonder in a more spontaneous and low-budget way
